Welcome Thanksgiving Guests with a Beautiful Guest Room
Many people find themselves hosting friends and relatives from out of town for overnight stays during the holidays. When guests come to stay, you naturally want them to be comfortable, and a guest room with fresh home décor can make an overnight in your home feel like a stay at a nice hotel. Here are some easy ways to make your guest bedroom feel cozy and welcoming.
Stock the Nightstand
Think ahead to your visitors’ needs when they retire to your guest bedroom for the night. Stock the nightstand with some comforts that will make your guests feel welcome, such as a couple of recent magazines, bottle of water, and a bedside clock (bonus if it doubles as a radio or mobile device charging station). Don’t forget to place a card with your home’s Wi-Fi network connection and password.
Invest in Bedding
Provide your guests with a variety of pillows and blankets to choose from so they can find their ideal comfort level in bed without having to adjust the thermostat. Setting everything out on a chair or bench lets your guests know they can help themselves to what will make them feel most at home. Do the same with your guest towels, setting them out to save your guests the trouble of looking for them when they need them.
Be sure that your guest room includes a bedside lamp on the nightstand. This should provide adequate reading light and ensure that your guests don’t have to get back out of bed to turn out the light, or stumble around an unfamiliar room in the dark. You also can refresh the room’s overhead lighting fixtures as a quick and easy do-it-yourself update to give the room a more sophisticated, hotel-like feeling. Lighting updates can transform any room.
