Maximize Your Home Storage with an Added Closet
Many older homes, admired for their vintage aesthetic, often lack adequate storage space. Some rooms may not even have a closet. Maximizing home storage can be as easy as adding a closet. Homeowners may think an added closet is time consuming and expensive – but there are options to fit every budget and schedule.
The great thing about an open closet design is that it requires no construction. If you have a room with a nook, it can easily be transformed into an added closet. Unused space, like under staircases or wide hallways, can also maximize home storage. Add shelves, rods, or hooks for added storage. Depending on space and the desired result, you can add shelves yourself or have them custom built by a professional.
If you need a big closet and the room allows, this design can still work without a nook if you reserve an entire wall for closet space. Purchase storage units with shelving and clothing rods and then attach French doors for a unique room design.
Expand an Existing Closet
There are plenty of options for maximizing home storage in existing closets. Small shelves or hooks in the inside of the closet door are surprisingly useful. Add rods or shelves to the narrow end walls of a closet for seldom-used items. You can reserve a wall for shorter items like shirts and add another rod under your top rod, doubling your hanging space.
Building a Closet
Depending on your budget, shape of the room, and adjacent rooms, building an added closet could be an option. Whatever your challenge, HB Home Services can help you find solutions that are right for you.
