3 Things You Need to Know about Your Roof Installation Process
What Can I Expect From the Roof Installation Process?
Roof replacement adds value to your home. If you’re prepared for the job and have a professional doing the work, the roof installation process is a smooth one. Here is what you need to know.
Removing the Existing Roof
After signing a contract, the next step in the roof installation process is removing your old roof. To prepare for this, you should take the following steps:
- Remove any yard ornaments, grills, or plants away from the work area.
- Set out tarps to protect the path to your home or any landscaping.
- Your roofing professional will set out any extra tarps to catch debris as it falls. They will clean it up as the work moves forward.
Installing Your Roof
Once your existing roof is bare, workers will replace rotting plywood and address leaks. Once this is done, the next step in the roof installation process is to install ice and water shields and draw lines on your new roof to ensure shingles go on neatly. Once the lines are done, your roofing professionals can start laying starter strips, shingles, steps, or counter-flashing.
Finishing the Project
As your roofing professionals are installing your roof, there will be falling debris like shingles and old pieces of wood. While they will clean up this debris as the job progresses, they will do a more thorough clean-up once the last shingle is affixed to the roof. They will likely rent a dumpster to deposit any trash and materials that have accumulated over the course of the project. Once they are done, they will take away the dumpster and remove the tarping, leaving you to enjoy your new roof.
